Privacy policy

Last updated 11 October 2026

The short version. We collect what the app needs to work: your email address, and the recipes, plans and lists you create. Your data is stored in the EU and synced to your phones. Other users can’t see it. We don’t show ads, don’t use trackers and never sell your data. You can export it or delete your account at any time, in the app.

Using the app without an account

You can look around Peas Of Mind without an account: browse the official recipes and scan barcodes. Nothing you do is saved, and we receive no personal data from you. To show official recipes and the food database, the app downloads them from our server; that request contains no personal data, although, like any internet request, our hosting provider sees your phone’s IP address. Saving anything needs an account.

What we collect when you have an account

DataWhy
Email addressTo create your account and send you sign-in codes.
Your Google account’s name and email address, if you choose Continue with GoogleTo sign you in and to fill in your name the first time. Google also shares a link to your profile picture, which is stored with your sign-in details but not used or shown.
Your name and profile photo, if you add themTo show your profile in the app.
Recipes you create, including photos, ingredients, steps, ratings and bookmarks; foods you add; your meal plan; your grocery lists and pantry staplesTo keep them safe and the same on all your phones. This is the service itself.
Daily targets and diet type (for example calories, net carbs, protein and fat, or “keto”)To calculate your progress. Because these can say something about your health, see Diet and health information below.
Technical data: IP address, device and app version, time of requestsRecorded automatically by our hosting provider to keep the service secure and working. Kept for a short period.

We don’t collect your location, contacts, or anything from other apps on your phone. The app uses your camera only when you choose to take a photo or scan a barcode, and your photo library only when you choose a photo.

Scanning barcodes

The barcode is read on your phone; the camera picture is not stored or sent anywhere. To find the product, the app sends the barcode number, and nothing else about you, directly to Open Food Facts, a non-profit food database based in France. Like any internet request, they see your phone’s IP address; their own privacy policy applies. If you are signed in and save a product, it is stored with your own foods in your account.

Crash reports

If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report so we can fix it. A report contains the error, the screen it happened on, your phone model, and the Android and app version. It contains no name, no email address, no IP address and none of your recipes, meals or targets, and we don’t use it to measure how you use the app.

Who can see your data

Your recipes, plans, lists and targets are private to your account. Other users can’t see them. Official recipes published by Peas Of Mind are public; the recipes you create are not.

To run the service, Peas Of Mind administrators can see account details: your email address, when you signed up and were last active, and how many recipes and planned meals you have. Our administration tools don’t show the content of your recipes, plans, lists or targets.

Diet and health information

Your daily targets and diet type may reveal information about your health, which the GDPR treats as a special category of data. Entering them is optional: the app works with its default targets. If you enter your own, we process them only to show your targets and progress in the app, on the basis of your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR). The health profile you can fill in to get suggested targets (sex, year of birth, height, weight, activity level and goal) stays on your phone and is never sent to us; only the targets you choose to apply are saved to your account. You can withdraw consent at any time by switching back to one of the preset targets or by deleting your account.

Legal basis

  • Providing the app you signed up for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR): your account, recipes, plans, lists and syncing.
  • Your consent (Article 6(1)(a) and 9(2)(a)): diet and health-related targets, as described above.
  • Our legitimate interest in a secure, working service (Article 6(1)(f)): technical data, security logs and crash reports.

We use a few companies to run Peas Of Mind. They process data only on our instructions and under data-processing agreements.

When data is processed outside the European Economic Area, it’s protected by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t show ads.
  • We don’t use analytics or advertising trackers in the app or on this website, and this website doesn’t set cookies. Crash reports are the only diagnostic data the app sends.
  • We don’t sell or rent your data, or share it for anyone else’s marketing.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your account and everything in it, including photos, are deleted from our live systems straight away. Technical logs are deleted automatically within a few weeks, and any backup copies within 30 days. If you email us, we keep that conversation for as long as needed to deal with it.

Data on your phone stays there until you erase it in the app or uninstall the app.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Many of these you can do yourself in the app:

  • Export: Settings > Account > Export my data saves everything as a file.
  • Correct: edit your recipes, plans, targets and profile directly.
  • Delete: Settings > Account > Delete my account. See how account deletion works.

For anything else, email privacy@peasofmind.app. We reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority; in the Czech Republic that’s the Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů (uoou.gov.cz).

Children

Peas Of Mind isn’t intended for children under 15, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we’ll delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and every table in our database is protected by access rules that let each account reach only its own data. Sign-in uses one-time codes or Google, so there are no passwords to leak.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your data in a significant way, we’ll tell you in the app first.
